Maxime Lamoureux-St-Hilaire is co-organizer of the Maya at the Playa and Maya at the Lago Conferences. He is also the co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of AFAR’s peer-reviewed, open-access journal, The Mayanist.

In addition to his work for AFAR, Max is Visiting Assistant Professor of Archaeology in the Anthropology Department at Davidson College. He is also President of the Board of Directors of the Boundary End Archaeology Research Center located in Barnardsville, NC. Along with his wife Mary Kate Kelly, they were the inaugural George Stuart Residential Scholars during the 2018-19 academic year.

Max obtained his Ph.D. from Tulane University in 2018, his M.A. from Trent University in 2011, and his B.Sc. from Université de Montréal in 2008 — all degrees in anthropological archaeology. He has been active in archaeological research in the Maya world (Belize, Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras) since 2007.
