The backdrop of this event will be in the heart of Walt Disney World at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is a grand and opulent resort located within the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Mexico and the American Southwest, the resort's design elements are a stunning blend of traditional and contemporary aesthetics. The resort showcases a variety of architectural styles, including Spanish Colonial Revival, Moorish, and Southwestern Pueblo. These styles are evident in the intricate detailing of the buildings, from the ornate arches and courtyards to the adobe-inspired exterior finishes. Like all of AFAR’s conference offerings, this weekend-long event will balance academic content and social activities. All of the academic content will take place in the Coronado Springs Convention Center. These activities will take place in a single breakout room throughout the weekend. Although we do not currently have formal dining activities planned for the weekend, we will inform our attendees of opportunities as they develop. Our presenters will be staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort due to the convenience but there is no obligation for attendees to stay at the property.
Conference guests not staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will be able to grab their registration kits at the first event and will be welcome to come and go from the resort as they please. Conference programming will not require theme park tickets unless future supplemental activities are added. If this occurs, these requirements will be clearly noted.
